3:180 وَلاَ
يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ بِمَا آتَاهُمُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ هُوَ خَيْراً
لَّهُمْ بَلْ هُوَ شَرٌّ لَّهُمْ سَيُطَوَّقُونَ مَا بَخِلُواْ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
وَلِلّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاللّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
And let not those who covetously withhold of the gifts which Allah Hath given them of His Grace, think that it is good for them: Nay, it will be the worse for them: soon shall the things which they covetously withheld be tied to their necks Like a twisted collar, on the Day of Judgment. To Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.
4:37 الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ
النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ مَا آتَاهُمُ اللّهُ
مِن فَضْلِهِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَاباً مُّهِيناً
(Nor) those who are niggardly or enjoin niggardliness on others, or hide the bounties which Allah hath bestowed on them; for We have prepared, for those who resist Faith, a punishment that steeps them in contempt;-
9:34 يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ
آمَنُواْ إِنَّ كَثِيراً مِّنَ الأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ
أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللّهِ
وَالَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلاَ يُنفِقُونَهَا
فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
O ye who believe! there are indeed many among the priests and anchorites, who in Falsehood devour the substance of men and hinder (them) from the way of Allah. And there are those who bury gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah: announce unto them a most grievous penalty-
9:35 يَوْمَ يُحْمَى
عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنوبُهُمْ
وَظُهُورُهُمْ هَـذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمْ
تَكْنِزُونَ
On the Day when heat will be produced out of that (wealth) in the fire of Hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, their flanks, and their backs.- "This is the (treasure) which ye buried for yourselves: taste ye, then, the (treasures) ye buried!"
9:76 فَلَمَّا آتَاهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ بَخِلُواْ بِهِ وَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
But when He did bestow of His bounty, they became covetous, and turned back (from their covenant), averse (from its fulfilment).
17:29 وَلاَ تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَى عُنُقِكَ وَلاَ تَبْسُطْهَا
كُلَّ الْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُوماً مَّحْسُوراً
Make not thy hand tied (like a niggard's) to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach, so that thou become blameworthy and destitute.
17:100 قُل لَّوْ أَنتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَآئِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّي إِذاً لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ
الإِنفَاقِ وَكَانَ الإنسَانُ قَتُوراً
Say: "If ye had control of the Treasures of the Mercy of my Lord, behold, ye would keep them back, for fear of spending them: for man is (every) niggardly!"
25:67 وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَنفَقُوا
لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا وَلَمْ يَقْتُرُوا وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ قَوَاماً
Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);
37:37 بَلْ جَاء بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him).
37:38 إِنَّكُمْ
لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ
Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;-
57:24 الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ
النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ
Such persons as are covetous and commend covetousness to men. And if any turn back (from Allah's Way), verily Allah is Free of all Needs, Worthy of all Praise.
68:17 إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا
لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
Verily We have tried them as We tried the People of the Garden, when they resolved to gather the fruits of the (garden) in the morning.
68:18 وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ
But made no reservation, ("If it be Allah's Will").
68:19 فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ
وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ
Then there came on the (garden) a visitation from thy Lord, (which swept away) all around, while they were asleep.
68:20 فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ
So the (garden) became, by the morning, like a dark and desolate spot, (whose fruit had been gathered).
68:21 فَتَنَادَوا مُصْبِحِينَ
As the morning broke, they called out, one to another,-
68:22 أَنِ
اغْدُوا عَلَى حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَارِمِينَ
"Go ye to your tilth (betimes) in the morning, if ye would gather the fruits."
68:23 فَانطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ
So they departed, conversing in secret low tones, (saying)-
68:24 أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
"Let not a single indigent person break in upon you into the (garden) this day."
68:25 وَغَدَوْا عَلَى حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ
And they opened the morning, strong in an (unjust) resolve.
68:26 فَلَمَّا
رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ
But when they saw the (garden), they said: "We have surely lost our way:
68:27 بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
"Indeed we are shut out (of the fruits of our labour)!"
68:28 قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ
لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
Said one of them, more just (than the rest): "Did I not say to you, 'Why not glorify (Allah)?'"
68:29 قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
They said: "Glory to our Lord! Verily we have been doing wrong!"
68:30 فَأَقْبَلَ
بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَلَاوَمُونَ
Then they turned, one against another, in reproach.
68:31 قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ
They said: "Alas for us! We have indeed transgressed!
68:32 عَسَى
رَبُّنَا أَن يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْراً مِّنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ
"It may be that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this: for we do turn to Him (in repentance)!"
68:33 كَذَلِكَ الْعَذَابُ وَلَعَذَابُ
الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
Such is the Punishment (in this life); but greater is the Punishment in the Hereafter,- if only they knew!
69:33 إِنَّهُ
كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ
"This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High.
69:34 وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ
"And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!
70:15 كَلَّا إِنَّهَا لَظَى
By no means! for it would be the Fire of Hell!-
70:16 نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَى
Plucking out (his being) right to the skull!-
70:17 تَدْعُو
مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّى
Inviting (all) such as turn their backs and turn away their faces (from the Right).
70:18 وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَى
And collect (wealth) and hide it (from use)!
81:24 وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ
Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.
89:17 كَلَّا بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ
Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans!
89:18 وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ
الْمِسْكِينِ
Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!-
92:8 وَأَمَّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى
But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient,
92:9 وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى
And gives the lie to the best,-
92:10 فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery;
92:11 وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّى
Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit).
107:1 أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّينِ
Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come)?
107:2 فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي
يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيمَ
Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness),
107:3 وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ
And encourages not the feeding of the indigent.
