Occasion of revelation
(Hast thou observed him who belieth religion? That is he who repelleth the orphan) [107:1-2]. Muqatil and al-Kalbi said: ﾓThis Surah was revealed about al-As ibn Waﾒil al-Sahmiﾔ. And Ibn Jurayj said: ﾓAbu Sufyan ibn Harb was in the habit of slaughtering two camels every week. On one occasion, an orphan came to him
asking him for something. Abu Sufyan responded by hitting him with a stick. And so Allah, exalted is He, revealed (Hast thou observed him who belieth religion? That is he who repelleth the orphan)ﾔ.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir
فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيمَ ﴿٢﴾
َThat is he who repulses the orphan,
meaning, he is the one who oppresses the orphan and does not give him his just due. He does not feed him, nor is he kind to him.
تفسير ابن كثير
أي هو الذي يقهر اليتيم ويظلمه حقه ولا يطعمه ولا يحسن إليه .
تفسير الجلالين
" فذلك " بتقدير هو بعد الفاء " الذي يدع اليتيم " أي يدفعه بعنف عن حقه
تفسير القرطبي
" يدع " أي يدفع , كما قال : " يدعون إلى نار جهنم دعا " [ الطور : 13 ] وقد تقدم . وقال الضحاك عن ابن عباس : " فذلك الذي يدع اليتيم " أي يدفعه عن حقه . قتادة : يقهره ويظلمه . والمعنى متقارب . وقد تقدم في سورة " النساء " أنهم كانوا لا يورثون النساء ولا الصغار , ويقولون : إنما يحوز المال من يطعن بالسنان , ويضرب بالحسام . وروي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال : [ من ضم يتيما من المسلمين حتى يستغني فقد وجبت له الجنة ] . وقد مضى هذا المعنى في غير موضع .
إعراب — grammatical analysis
«فَذلِكَ» الفاء الفصيحة واسم الإشارة مبتدأ «الَّذِي» خبره والجملة جواب شرط مقدر لا محل لها.
«يَدُعُّ» مضارع فاعله مستتر «الْيَتِيمَ» مفعول به والجملة صلة.
