2:34 وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلاَئِكَةِ اسْجُدُواْ
لآدَمَ فَسَجَدُواْ إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَى وَاسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ
And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith.
7:11 وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ ثُمَّ صَوَّرْنَاكُمْ ثُمَّ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلآئِكَةِ اسْجُدُواْ
لآدَمَ فَسَجَدُواْ إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ لَمْ يَكُن مِّنَ السَّاجِدِينَ
It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels prostrate to Adam, and they prostrate; not so Iblis; He refused to be of those who prostrate.
15:30 فَسَجَدَ الْمَلآئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ
أَجْمَعُونَ
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:
15:31 إِلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَى أَن يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves.
15:32 قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلاَّ تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
(Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?"
15:33 قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن
لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
(Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape."
15:34 قَالَ
فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
(Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed.
15:35 وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ إِلَى يَوْمِ
الدِّينِ
"And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment."
15:36 قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised."
15:37 قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ
مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ
(Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee
15:38 إِلَى يَومِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ
"Till the Day of the Time appointed."
15:39 قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا
أَغْوَيْتَنِي لأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,-
15:40 إِلاَّ عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
"Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."
15:41 قَالَ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ
مُسْتَقِيمٌ
(Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me.
15:42 إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ إِلاَّ مَنِ
اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ
"For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."
17:61 وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلآئِكَةِ اسْجُدُواْ لآدَمَ فَسَجَدُواْ إَلاَّ إِبْلِيسَ
قَالَ أَأَسْجُدُ لِمَنْ خَلَقْتَ طِيناً
Behold! We said to the angels: "Bow down unto Adam": They bowed down except Iblis: He said, "Shall I bow down to one whom Thou didst create from clay?"
18:50 وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا
لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ كَانَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِ
أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُ أَوْلِيَاء مِن دُونِي وَهُمْ لَكُمْ
عَدُوٌّ بِئْسَ لِلظَّالِمِينَ بَدَلاً
Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you! Evil would be the exchange for the wrong-doers!
20:116 وَإِذْ قُلْنَا
لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَى
When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam", they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused.
26:94 فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ
"Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil,
26:95 وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ
أَجْمَعُونَ
"And the whole hosts of Iblis together.
34:20 وَلَقَدْ صَدَّقَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِبْلِيسُ ظَنَّهُ فَاتَّبَعُوهُ إِلَّا
فَرِيقاً مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
And on them did Satan prove true his idea, and they followed him, all but a party that believed.
38:73 فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ
أَجْمَعُونَ
So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together:
38:74 إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنْ الْكَافِرِينَ
Not so Iblis: he was haughty, and became one of those who reject Faith.
38:75 قَالَ
يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ
مِنَ الْعَالِينَ
(Allah) said: "O Iblis! What prevents thee from prostrating thyself to one whom I have created with my hands? Art thou haughty? Or art thou one of the high (and mighty) ones?"
