5:22 قَالُوا يَا مُوسَى إِنَّ فِيهَا قَوْماً جَبَّارِينَ
وَإِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَا حَتَّىَ يَخْرُجُواْ مِنْهَا فَإِن يَخْرُجُواْ مِنْهَا
فَإِنَّا دَاخِلُونَ
They said: "O Moses! In this land are a people of exceeding strength: Never shall we enter it until they leave it: if (once) they leave, then shall we enter."
10:90 وَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْبَحْرَ
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنُودُهُ بَغْياً وَعَدْواً حَتَّى إِذَا أَدْرَكَهُ
الْغَرَقُ قَالَ آمَنتُ أَنَّهُ لا إِلِـهَ إِلاَّ الَّذِي آمَنَتْ بِهِ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ
وَأَنَاْ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
We took the Children of Israel across the sea: Pharaoh and his hosts followed them in insolence and spite. At length, when overwhelmed with the flood, he said: "I believe that there is no god except Him Whom the Children of Israel believe in: I am of those who submit (to Allah in Islam)."
11:59 وَتِلْكَ عَادٌ جَحَدُواْ بِآيَاتِ
رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْاْ رُسُلَهُ وَاتَّبَعُواْ أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ
Such were the 'Ad People: they rejected the Signs of their Lord and Cherisher; disobeyed His messengers; And followed the command of every powerful, obstinate transgressor.
14:15 وَاسْتَفْتَحُواْ
وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ
But they sought victory and decision (there and then), and frustration was the lot of every powerful obstinate transgressor.
16:90 إِنَّ اللّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ
وَالإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاء ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاء
وَالْمُنكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition.
26:128 أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ
آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ
"Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?
26:129 وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ
"And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)?
26:130 وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ
"And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power?
28:19 فَلَمَّا أَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَبْطِشَ بِالَّذِي هُوَ عَدُوٌّ لَّهُمَا قَالَ
يَا مُوسَى أَتُرِيدُ أَن تَقْتُلَنِي كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْساً بِالْأَمْسِ إِن تُرِيدُ إِلَّا
أَن تَكُونَ جَبَّاراً فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيدُ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُصْلِحِينَ
Then, when he decided to lay hold of the man who was an enemy to both of them, that man said: "O Moses! Is it thy intention to slay me as thou slewest a man yesterday? Thy intention is none other than to become a powerful violent man in the land, and not to be one who sets things right!"
42:14 وَمَا
تَفَرَّقُوا إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْياً بَيْنَهُمْ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ
سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى لَّقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ
أُورِثُوا الْكِتَابَ مِن بَعْدِهِمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٍ
And they became divided only after Knowledge reached them,- through selfish envy as between themselves. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (tending) to a Term appointed, the matter would have been settled between them: But truly those who have inherited the Book after them are in suspicious (disquieting) doubt concerning it.
45:17 وَآتَيْنَاهُم بَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْرِ
فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوا إِلَّا مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءهُمْ الْعِلْمُ بَغْياً بَيْنَهُمْ إِنَّ
رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ
And We granted them Clear Signs in affairs (of Religion): it was only after knowledge had been granted to them that they fell into schisms, through insolent envy among themselves. Verily thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment as to those matters in which they set up differences.
89:6 أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-
89:7 إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ
Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,
89:8 الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ
The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?
89:9 وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ
And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-
89:10 وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ
And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes?
89:11 الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ
(All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,
89:12 فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ
And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).
91:11 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ
بِطَغْوَاهَا
The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing,
