Tafsir Ibn Kathir
A Mention of some of what will occur on the Day of Judgement
Then Allah says,
فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ ﴿٨﴾
Then when the stars lose their lights.
meaning, their light will leave.
This is similar to Allah's statement,
وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ
And when the stars fall. (81:2)
It is also similar to His statement,
وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انتَثَرَتْ
And when the stars have fallen and scattered. (82:2)
تفسير ابن كثير
أي ذهب ضوءها كقوله تعالى" وإذا النجوم انكدرت " وكقوله تعالى " وإذا الكواكب انتثرت " .
تفسير الجلالين
"فإذا النجوم طمست" محي نورها
تفسير القرطبي
ثم بين وقت وقوعه فقال : " فإذا النجوم طمست " أي ذهب ضوءها ومحي نورها كطمس الكتاب ; يقال : طمس الشيء إذا درس وطمس فهو مطموس , والريح تطمس الآثار فتكون الريح طامسة والأثر طامسا بمعنى مطموس .

«فَإِذَا» الفاء حرف استئناف و«إذا» ظرفية شرطية غير جازمة و«النُّجُومُ» نائب فاعل لفعل محذوف يفسره المذكور و«طُمِسَتْ» ماض مبني للمجهول ونائب الفاعل مستتر والجملة مفسرة لجملة الشرط المقدرة والشرط وجوابه مستأنف وما بعده معطوف عليه
