أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْداً فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ
Am yureedoona kaydan faallatheena kafaroo humu almakeedoona

Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot!

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾
Or do they intend a plot But those who disbelieve are themselves plotted against!
Allah the Exalted is asking, `Do these people who utter such statements about the Messenger and his religion seek to deceive the people and plot against the Messenger and his Companions If they do, then let them know that their plots will only harm them. Therefore, they are being plotted against rather than being the plotters!'

يقول تعالى أم يريد هؤلاء بقولهم هذا في الرسول وفي الدين غرور الناس وكيد الرسول وأصحابه فكيدهم إنما يرجع وباله على أنفسهم فالذين كفروا هم المكيدون .

"أم يريدون كيدا" بك ليهلكوك في دار الندوة "فالذين كفروا هم المكيدون" المغلوبون المهلكون فحفظه الله منهم ثم أهلكهم ببدر
