وَأُحِيطَ بِثَمَرِهِ فَأَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى مَا أَنفَقَ فِيهَا وَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَى عُرُوشِهَا وَيَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّي أَحَداً

So his fruits (and enjoyment) were encompassed (with ruin), and he remained twisting and turning his hands over what he had spent on his property, which had (now) tumbled to pieces to its very foundations, and he could only say, "Woe is me! Would I had never ascribed partners to my Lord and Cherisher!"

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Evil Results of Kufr
Allah says:
وَأُحِيطَ بِثَمَرِهِ ...
So his fruits were encircled,
meaning his wealth, or according to the other opinion, his crops.
What is meant is that what this disbeliever was afraid of and what the believer had terrified him actually had happened. A storm struck his garden, a garden which he had erroneously thought would last forever, distracting him from thoughts of Allah, may He be glorified.
... فَأَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى مَا أَنفَقَ فِيهَا ...
And he began Yuqallibu his hands over what he had spent upon it,
Qatadah said:
"He was clasping his hands together in a gesture of regret and grief for the wealth he had lost.''
... وَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَى عُرُوشِهَا ...
while it was all destroyed on its trellises,
... وَيَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّي أَحَدًا ﴿٤٢﴾
وَلَمْ تَكُن لَّهُ فِئَةٌ ...
and he could only say: "Would that I had ascribed no partners to my Lord!" And he had no group of men,
meaning a clan or children, as he had vainly boasted,
تفسير ابن كثير
يقول تعالى " وأحيط بثمره " بأمواله أو بثماره على القول الآخر والمقصود أنه وقع بهذا الكافر ما كان يحذر مما خوفه به المؤمن من إرسال الحسبان على جنته التي اغتر بها وألهته عن الله عز وجل " فأصبح يقلب كفيه على ما أنفق فيها " وقال قتادة يصفق كفيه متأسفا متلهفا على الأموال التي أذهبها عليها " ويقول يا ليتني لم أشرك بربي أحدا .
تفسير الجلالين
"وأحيط بثمره" بأوجه الضبط السابقة مع جنته بالهلاك فهلكت "فأصبح يقلب كفيه" ندما وتحسرا "على ما أنفق فيها" في عمارة جنته "وهي خاوية" ساقطة "على عروشها" دعائمها للكرم بأن سقطت ثم سقط الكرم "ويقول يا ليتني" للتنبيه
تفسير القرطبي
اسم ما لم يسم فاعله مضمر , وهو المصدر . ويجوز أن يكون المخفوض في موضع رفع . ومعنى " أحيط بثمره " أي أهلك ماله كله . وهذا أول ما حقق الله تعالى به إنذار أخيه .
