وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَاباً وَعِظَاماً أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
Wakanoo yaqooloona aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona

And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?-

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Allah said,
وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ﴿٤٧﴾
أَوَ آبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ ﴿٤٨﴾
And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? And also our forefathers?''
They said this while denying and rejecting the idea that resurrection will ever occur.

يعني أنهم يقولون ذلك مكذبين به مستبعدين لوقوعه .

"وكانوا يقولون أإذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما أإنا لمبعوثون" في الهمزتين في الموضعين التحقيق وتسهيل الثانية وإدخال ألف بينهما على الوجهين

هذا استبعاد منهم لأمر البعث وتكذيب له .

معطوفة على ما قبلها «أَإِذا» الهمزة حرف استفهام وإذا ظرفية شرطية غير جازمة «مِتْنا» ماض وفاعله والجملة في محل جر بالإضافة «وَكُنَّا» كان واسمها «تُراباً» خبرها والجملة معطوفة على ما قبلها «وَعِظاماً» معطوف على ترابا «أَإِنَّا» الهمزة حرف استفهام وإن واسمها «لَمَبْعُوثُونَ» اللام المزحلقة ومبعوثون خبرها والجملة الاسمية مؤكدة لما قبلها
