أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُوْلَئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Advising and Threatening the Quraysh Allah said,
أَكُفَّارُكُمْ ...
Are your disbelievers,
meaning, `O idolators of the Quraysh,'
... خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أُوْلَئِكُمْ ...
better than these,
meaning better than the nations that were mentioned here, who were destroyed on account of their disbelief in the Messengers and rejecting the Scriptures. `Are you better than these?'
... أَمْ لَكُم بَرَاءةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ ﴿٤٣﴾
Or have you immunity in the Divine Scriptures,
`do you have immunity from Allah that the torment and punishment will not touch you?'
Allah said about the Quraysh,
تفسير ابن كثير
ثم قال تعالى " أكفاركم " أي أيها المشركون من كفار قريش " خير من أولئكم " يعني من الذين تقدم ذكرهم ممن أهلكوا بسبب تكذيبهم الرسل وكفرهم بالكتب أأنتم خير من أولئكم ؟ " أم لكم براءة في الزبر " أي أم معكم من الله براءة أن لا ينالكم عذاب ولا نكال ؟ .
تفسير الجلالين
"أكفاركم" يا قريش "خير من أولئكم" المذكورين من قوم نوح إلى فرعون فلم يعذروا "أم لكم" يا كفار قريش "براءة" من العذاب "في الزبر" الكتب والاستفهام في الموضعين بمعنى النفي أي ليس الأمر كذلك
تفسير القرطبي
خاطب العرب . وقيل : أراد كفار أمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم . وقيل : استفهام , وهو استفهام إنكار ومعناه النفي ; أي ليس كفاركم خيرا من كفار من تقدم من الأمم الذين أهلكوا بكفرهم .
