وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا قُلْتُم مَّا نَدْرِي مَا السَّاعَةُ إِن نَّظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنّاً وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ
Waitha qeela inna waAAda Allahi haqqun waalssaAAatu la rayba feeha qultum ma nadree ma alssaAAatu in nathunnu illa thannan wama nahnu bimustayqineena

"And when it was said that the promise of Allah was true, and that the Hour- there was no doubt about its (coming), ye used to say, 'We know not what is the hour: we only think it is an idea, and we have no firm assurance.'" Recitation 0:00

ENTafsir Ibn Kathir
وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا ...
And when it was said:
"Verily, Allah's promise is the truth, and there is no doubt about the coming of the Hour,''
`when the believers said these words to you;'
... قُلْتُم مَّا نَدْرِي مَا السَّاعَةُ ...
you said: "We know not what is the Hour...''
`we do not recognize what you are talking about,'
... إِن نَّظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا ...
we do not think it but conjecture,
`we only remotely think that it might come,'
... وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ ﴿٣٢﴾
and we have no firm convincing belief (therein).
`we are not sure of it.'
ARتفسير ابن كثير
وإذا قيل إن وعد الله حق والساعة لا ريب فيها أي إذا قال لكم المؤمنون ذلك قلتم ما ندري ما الساعة أي لا نعرفها إن نظن إلا ظنا أي إن نتوهم وقوعها إلا توهما أي مرجوحا ولهذا قال وما نحن بمستيقنين أي بمتحققين .

"وإذا قيل" لكم أيها الكفار "إن وعد الله" بالبعث "حق والساعة" بالرفع والنصب "لا ريب" شك "فيها قلتم ما ندري ما الساعة إن" ما "نظن إلا ظنا" قال المبرد : أصله إن نحن إلا نظن ظنا "وما نحن بمستيقنين" أنها آتية
