أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاء فَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْوَلِيُّ وَهُوَ يُحْيِي المَوْتَى وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

What! Have they taken (for worship) protectors besides Him? But it is Allah,- He is the Protector, and it is He Who gives life to the dead: It is He Who has power over all things,

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Allah is the Protector, Ruler and Creator
Allah says,
أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاء فَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْوَلِيُّ وَهُوَ يُحْيِي المَوْتَى وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ ﴿٩﴾
Or have they taken protecting friends besides Him? But Allah --- He Alone is the protector. And He Who gives life to the dead, and He is Able to do all things.
Here Allah denounces the idolators for taking other gods instead of Allah, and declares that He is the True God, and it is not right to worship anyone except Him Alone. He is the One Who is able to bring the dead back to life and He is Able to do all things.
تفسير ابن كثير
يقول تعالى منكرا على المشركين في اتخاذهم آلهة من دون الله ومخبرا أنه هو الولي الحق الذي لا تنبغي العبادة إلا له وحده فإنه هو القادر على إحياء الموتى وهو على كل شيء قدير .
تفسير الجلالين
"أم اتخذوا من دونه أولياء" أي الأصنام , أم منقطعة بمعنى : بل التي للانتقال والهمزة للإنكار أي ليس المتخذون أولياء "فالله هو الولي" أي الناصر للمؤمنين والفاء لمجرد العطف
تفسير القرطبي
" أم اتخذوا " أي بل اتخذوا . " من دونه أولياء " يعني أصناما . " فالله هو الولي " أي وليك يا محمد وولي من اتبعك , لا ولي سواه . " وهو يحيي الموتى " يريد عند البعث . " وهو على كل شيء قدير " وغيره من الأولياء لا يقدر على شيء .
