قَدْ قَالَهَا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
Qad qalaha allatheena min qablihim fama aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yaksiboona

Thus did the (generations) before them say! But all that they did was of no profit to them.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
قَدْ قَالَهَا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ...
Verily, those before them said it,
means, the previous nations who came before said the same things and made the same claims,
... فَمَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ ﴿٥٠﴾
yet (all) that they had earned availed them not.
means, what they said was not right and all that they had gathered did not save them.
تفسير ابن كثير
أي قد قال هذه المقالة وزعم هذا الزعم وادعى هذه الدعوى كثير ممن سلف من الأمم " فما أغنى عنهم ما كانوا يكسبون " أي فما صح قولهم ولا نفعهم جمعهم وما كانوا يكسبون .
تفسير الجلالين
"قد قالها الذين من قبلهم" من الأمم كقارون وقومه الراضين بها
