وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ
Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireena

But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;-

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Allah says:
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿٧١﴾
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ ﴿٧٢﴾
And indeed most of the earlier ones went astray before them;
And indeed We sent among them warners;
Allah tells us that most of the previous nations went astray, worshipping other gods alongside Allah. He states that He sent among them warners to alert them to the anger, wrath and vengeance of Allah towards those who disbelieve in Him and worship others besides Him. He tells us that they persisted in their opposition to their Messengers and their disbelief in them, so He destroyed those who disbelieved in Him and saved the believers and caused them to prevail.
تفسير ابن كثير
وذكر تعالى أنه أرسل فيهم منذرين ينذرون بأس الله ويحذرونهم سطوته ونقمته ممن كفر به وعبد غيره وأنهم تمادوا على مخالفة رسلهم وتكذيبهم فأهلك المكذبين ودمرهم ونجى المؤمنين ونصرهم وظفرهم ولهذا قال تعالى " فانظر كيف كان عاقبة المنذرين إلا عباد الله المخلصين " .

"ولقد أرسلنا فيهم منذرين" من الرسل مخوفين

أي رسلا أنذروهم العذاب فكفروا .
