قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلُ كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّشْرِكِينَ
Qul seeroo fee alardi faonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu allatheena min qablu kana aktharuhum mushrikeena

Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those before (you): Most of them worshipped others besides Allah."

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Then Allah says:
قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلُ ...
Say: "Travel in the land and see what was the end of those before (you)!''
meaning, those who came before you.
... كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّشْرِكِينَ ﴿٤٢﴾
Most of them were idolators.
means, so see what happened to them when they rejected the Messengers and were ungrateful for the blessings.
تفسير ابن كثير
قال تعالى " قل سيروا في الأرض فانظروا كيف كان عاقبة الذين من قبل" أي من قبلكم " كان أكثرهم مشركين " أي فانظروا ما حل بهم من تكذيب الرسل وكفر النعم .

"قل" لكفار مكة "سيروا في الأرض فانظروا كيف كان عاقبة الذين من قبل كان أكثرهم مشركين" فأهلكوا بإشراكهم ومساكنهم ومنازلهم خاوية

أي قل لهم يا محمد سيروا في الأرض ليعتبروا بمن قبلهم , وينظروا كيف كان عاقبة من كذب الرسل
إعراب — grammatical analysis
«قُلْ» أمر فاعله مستتر والجملة مستأنفة لا محل لها «سِيرُوا» أمر وفاعله والجملة مقول القول «فِي الْأَرْضِ» متعلقان بالفعل «فَانْظُرُوا» معطوف على سيروا «كَيْفَ» اسم استفهام خبر كان المقدم «كانَ عاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ» كان واسمها المضاف إلى الذين والجملة سدت مسد مفعولي انظروا «مِنْ قَبْلُ» متعلقان بمحذوف صلة الموصول «كانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُشْرِكِينَ» كان واسمها وخبرها والجملة مستأنفة لا محل لها
