وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللّهِ مَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقاً مِّنَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ شَيْئاً وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
WayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi ma la yamliku lahum rizqan mina alssamawati waalardi shayan wala yastateeAAoona

And worship others than Allah,- such as have no power of providing them, for sustenance, with anything in heavens or earth, and cannot possibly have such power?

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Denouncing the Worship of anything besides Allah
Allah tells
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللّهِ ...
And they worship others besides Allah,
Allah tells us about the Mushrikin who worship others besides Him, even though He alone is the bountiful Provider, the Creator and Sustainer, without partners or associates, but they still worship idols and make rivals for Him.
He says:
... مَا لاَ يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقًا مِّنَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ شَيْئًا ...
such as do not have power to grant them any provision from the heavens or the earth,
meaning, nobody can cause rain to fall, or make plants and trees grow.
... وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ﴿٧٣﴾
nor the ability to do so.
They cannot do these things for them- selves, even if they wanted to.
Thus Allah says:
تفسير ابن كثير
يقول تعالى إخبارا عن المشركين الذين عبدوا معه غيره مع أنه هو المنعم المتفضل الخالق الرازق وحده لا شريك له ومع هذا يعبدون من دونه من الأصنام والأنداد والأوثان ما لا يملك لهم رزقا من السماوات والأرض شيئا أي لا يقدر على إنزال مطر ولا إنبات زرع ولا شجر ولا يملكون ذلك لأنفسهم أي ليس لهم ذلك ولا يقدرون عليه لو أرادوه .
تفسير الجلالين
"ويعبدون من دون الله" أي غيره "ما لا يملك لهم رزقا من السماوات" بالمطر "والأرض" بالنبات "شيئا" بدل من رزقا "ولا يستطيعون" يقدرون على شيء وهو الأصنام
تفسير القرطبي
يعني المطر .
إعراب — grammatical analysis
«وَيَعْبُدُونَ» الواو عاطفة ومضارع مرفوع والواو فاعله والجملة معطوفة على ما سبق.
«مِنْ دُونِ» متعلقان بيعبدون.
«اللَّهِ» لفظ الجلالة مضاف إليه.
«ما» موصولية مفعول به.
«لا» نافية.
«يَمْلِكُ» مضارع فاعله مستتر والجملة صلة.
«لَهُمْ» متعلقان بيملك.
«رِزْقاً» مفعول به.
«مِنَ السَّماواتِ» متعلقان برزق.
«وَالْأَرْضِ» معطوف على ما سبق.
«شَيْئاً» مفعول به لرزقا.
