وَكَذَّبَ بِهِ قَوْمُكَ وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ قُل لَّسْتُ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ
Wakaththaba bihi qawmuka wahuwa alhaqqu qul lastu AAalaykum biwakeelin

But thy people reject this, though it is the truth. Say: "Not mine is the responsibility for arranging your affairs;

Thy people (O Muhammad) have denied it, though it is the Truth. Say: I am not put in charge of you.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Invitation to the Truth is Guidance Without Coercion
Allah said,
وَكَذَّبَ بِهِ ...
But have denied it,
denied the Qur'an, guidance and clear explanation that you (O Muhammad) have brought them,
... قَوْمُكَ ...
your people,
meaning, Quraysh,
... وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ ...
though it is the truth.
beyond which there is no other truth.
... قُل لَّسْتُ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ ﴿٦٦﴾
Say: "I am not responsible for your affairs.''
meaning, I have not been appointed a guardian or watcher over you.
Allah also said;
وَقُلِ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ فَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيُؤْمِن وَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيَكْفُرْ
And say: "The truth is from your Lord.'' Then whosoever wills, let him believe, and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. (18:29)
This means, my duty is to convey the Message and your duty is to hear and obey. Those who follow me, will acquire happiness in this life and the Hereafter. Those who defy me will become miserable in this life and the Hereafter.
تفسير ابن كثير
يقول تعالى " وكذب به " أي بالقرآن الذي جئتهم به والهدى والبيان " قومك " يعني قريشا " وهو الحق " أي الذي ليس وراءه حق " قل لست عليكم بوكيل " أي لست عليكم بحفيظ ولست بموكل بكم كقوله " وقل الحق من ربكم فمن شاء فليؤمن ومن شاء فليكفر " أي إنما علي البلاغ وعليكم السمع والطاعة فمن اتبعني سعد في الدنيا والآخرة ومن خالفني فقد شقي في الدنيا والآخرة .
تفسير الجلالين
"وكذب به" بالقرآن "قومك وهو الحق" الصدق "قل" لهم "لست عليكم بوكيل" فأجازيكم إنما أنا منذر وأمركم إلى الله وهذا قبل الأمر بالقتال
تفسير القرطبي
أي بالقرآن . وقرأ ابن أبي عبلة " وكذبت " . بالتاء .
إعراب — grammatical analysis
«وَكَذَّبَ بِهِ قَوْمُكَ» فعل ماض تعلق به الجار والمجرور وقومك فاعله ، والكاف في محل جر بالإضافة.
و الجملة مستأنفة.
«وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ» مبتدأ وخبر والجملة في محل نصب حال والجملة الفعلية : «قُلْ» مستأنفة.
«لَسْتُ» فعل ماض ناقص والتاء اسمها «عَلَيْكُمْ» متعلقان بوكيل.
«بِوَكِيلٍ» الباء حرف جر زائد في خبر لست. وكيل اسم مجرور لفظا منصوب محلا على أنه خبر لست والجملة مقول القول.
