إِنَّمَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُم مِّن دِيَارِكُمْ وَظَاهَرُوا عَلَى إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَن تَوَلَّوْهُمْ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ
Innama yanhakumu Allahu AAani allatheena qatalookum fee alddeeni waakhrajookum min diyarikum wathaharoo AAala ikhrajikum an tawallawhum waman yatawallahum faolaika humu alththalimoona
Yusuf Ali
Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.

Allah forbiddeth you only those who warred against you on account of religion and have driven you out from your homes and helped to drive you out, that ye make friends of them. Whosoever maketh friends of them - (All) such are wrong-doers.

Allah only forbids you respecting those who made war upon you on account of (your) religion, and drove you forth from your homes and backed up (others) in your expulsion, that you make friends with them, and whoever makes friends with them, these are the unjust.

The Prohibition of being Kind towards Combatant Disbelievers
Allah's statement,
إِنَّمَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُم مِّن دِيَارِكُمْ وَظَاهَرُوا عَلَى إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَن تَوَلَّوْهُمْ ...
It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out that Allah forbids you to befriend them.
means, `Allah forbids you from being kind and befriending with the disbelievers who are openly hostile to you, those who fought against you, expelled you and helped to expel you. Allah the Exalted forbids you from being their friends and orders you to be their enemy.'
Then Allah stresses His threat against being friends with them, by saying,
... وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ ﴿٩﴾
And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the wrongdoers.
As He said;
يَـأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَـرَى أَوْلِيَآءَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِّنكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَهْدِى الْقَوْمَ الظَّـلِمِينَ
O you who believe!
Take not the Jews and the Christians as protecting friends, they are but protecting friends of each other. And if any among you takes them (as protecting friends), then surely, he is one of them.
Verily, Allah guides not those people who are the wrongdoers. (5:51)
تفسير ابن كثير
وقوله تعالى " إنما ينهاكم الله عن الذين قاتلوكم في الدين وأخرجوكم من دياركم وظاهروا على إخراجكم أن تولوهم " أي إنما ينهاكم عن موالاة هؤلاء الذين ناصبوكم وأخرجوكم وعاونوا على إخراجكم ينهاكم الله عز وجل عن موالاتهم ويأمركم بمعاداتهم ثم أكد الوعيد على موالاتهم فقال " ومن يتولهم فأولئك هم الظالمون " كقوله تعالى " يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا اليهود والنصارى أولياء بعضهم أولياء بعض ومن يتولهم منكم فإنه منهم إن الله لا يهدي القوم الظالمين " .

إعراب — grammatical analysis
«إِنَّما يَنْهاكُمُ اللَّهُ» إنما كافة ومكفوفة ومضارع ومفعوله ولفظ الجلالة فاعله والجملة لا محل لها. «عَنِ الَّذِينَ» متعلقان بالفعل «قاتَلُوكُمْ» ماض وفاعله ومفعوله «فِي الدِّينِ» متعلقان بالفعل والجملة صلة.
«أَخْرَجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيارِكُمْ» معطوف على ما قبله «ظاهَرُوا عَلى إِخْراجِكُمْ» معطوف على ما قبله أيضا «أَنْ تَوَلَّوْهُمْ» مضارع منصوب بأن والواو فاعله والهاء مفعوله والمصدر المؤول من أن والفعل في محل جر بدل اشتمال من الذين. «وَمَنْ» الواو حرف استئناف واسم شرط مبتدأ «يَتَوَلَّهُمْ» مضارع مجزوم لأنه فعل الشرط والهاء مفعوله «فَأُولئِكَ» الفاء رابطة واسم الإشارة مبتدأ «هُمُ» ضمير فصل «الظَّالِمُونَ» خبر والجملة في محل جزم جواب الشرط وجملتا الشرط والجواب خبر من ، وجملة من ..
