وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَكِن كَانُوا هُمُ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wama thalamnahum walakin kanoo humu alththalimeena

Nowise shall We be unjust to them: but it is they who have been unjust themselves.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَكِن كَانُوا هُمُ الظَّالِمِينَ ﴿٧٦﴾
We wronged them not, but they were the wrongdoers.
means, by their committing wrong actions after proof had been established against them and Messengers had been sent to them, but they rejected them and rebelled, so they are to be punished accordingly. And your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) servants.
تفسير ابن كثير
أي بأعمالهم السيئة بعد قيام الحجة عليهم وإرسال الرسل إليهم فكذبوا وعصوا فجوزوا بذلك جزاء وفاقا وما ربك بظلام للعبيد .
تفسير القرطبي
" وما ظلمناه " بالعذاب " ولكن كانوا هم الظالمين " أنفسهم بالشرك . ويجوز " ولكن كانوا هم الظالمون " بالرفع على الابتداء والخبر والجملة خبر كان .
