Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Then Allah mentions Isa bin Maryam and says:
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ مَثَلًا لِّبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ﴿٥٩﴾
وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَجَعَلْنَا مِنكُم مَّلَائِكَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ ﴿٦٠﴾
وَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِّلسَّاعَةِ ...
He was not more than a servant. We granted Our favor to him, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel. And if it were Our will, We would have made angels to replace you on the earth. And he (Isa) shall be a known sign for the Hour.
meaning, the miracles and signs that happened at his hands, such as raising the dead and healing the sick, are sufficient as signs of the approach of the Hour.
تفسير ابن كثير
قوله تعالى " إن هو إلا عبد أنعمنا عليه " يعني عيسى عليه الصلاة والسلام ما هو إلا عبد من عباد الله عز وجل أنعم الله عليه بالنبوة والرسالة " وجعلناه مثلا لبني إسرائيل" أي دلالة وحجة وبرهانا على قدرتنا على ما نشاء .
تفسير الجلالين
"إن" ما "هو" عيسى "إلا عبد أنعمنا عليه" بالنبوة "وجعلناه" بوجوده من غير أب "مثلا لبني إسرائيل" أي كالمثل لغرابته يستدل به على قدرة الله تعالى على ما يشاء
تفسير القرطبي
أي ما عيسى إلا عبد أنعم الله عليه بالنبوة , وجعله مثلا لبني إسرائيل ; أي آية وعبرة يستدل بها . على قدرة الله تعالى ; فإن عيسى كان من غير أب , ثم جعل الله من إحياء الموتى وإبراء الأكمه والأبرص والأسقام كلها ما لم يجعل لغيره في زمانه , مع أن بني إسرائيل كانوا يومئذ خير الخلق وأحبه إلى الله عز وجل , والناس دونهم , ليس أحد عند الله عز وجل مثلهم . وقيل المراد بالعبد المنعم عليه محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ; والأول أظهر .
