لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ ﴿٤٠﴾
That we may follow the sorcerers if they are the winners.
They did not say: `we will follow the truth, whether it rests with the sorcerers or with Musa;' the people were followers of the religion of their king.
تفسير ابن كثير
وقال قائلهم " لعلنا نتبع السحرة إن كانوا هم الغالبين " ولم يقولوا نتبع الحق سواء كان من السحرة أو من موسى بل الرعية على دين ملكهم.
تفسير الجلالين
والترجي على تقدير غلبتهم ليستمروا على دينهم فلا يتبعوا موسى
إعراب — grammatical analysis
«لَعَلَّنا» لعل واسمها «نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ» مضارع ومفعول به والجملة خبر لعل «إِنْ» شرطية «كانُوا هُمُ الْغالِبِينَ» كان واسمها وخبرها وهم ضمير فصل لا محل له وجملة كانوا .. ابتدائية لا محل لها وجملة الجواب محذوفة لدلالة الكلام عليها تقديرها فنحن نتبعهم
