إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا لَوْلَا أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلاً

"He indeed would well-nigh have misled us from our gods, had it not been that we were constant to them!" - Soon will they know, when they see the Penalty, who it is that is most misled in Path!

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا ...
He would have nearly misled us from our gods,
They meant: `he nearly turned us away from worshipping idols, and he would have done so, had we not been patient and persevered in our ways.'
... لَوْلَا أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا ...
had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!''
So Allah said, warning and threatening them:
... وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ ...
And they will know, when they see the torment...
... مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا ﴿٤٢﴾
who it is that is most astray from the path!
تفسير ابن كثير
وقوله تعالى : " إن كاد ليضلنا عن آلهتنا " يعنون أنه كاد يثنيهم عن عبادة الأصنام لولا أن صبروا وتجلدوا واستمروا عليها قال الله تعالى متوعدا لهم ومتهددا " وسوف يعلمون حين يرون العذاب" الآية ثم قال تعالى لنبيه منبها أن من كتب الله عليه الشقاوة والضلال فإنه لا يهديه أحد إلا الله عز وجل .
تفسير الجلالين
"إن" مخففة من الثقيلة واسمها محذوف : أي إنه "كاد ليضلنا" يصرفنا "عن آلهتنا لولا أن صبرنا عليها" لصرفنا عنها "وسوف يعلمون حين يرون العذاب" عيانا في الآخرة "من أضل سبيلا" أخطأ طريقا أهم أم المؤمنون
