وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَى هَذَا الْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
The Idolators seek to hasten on the Punishment
Allah also tells us how the idolators seek to hasten punishment upon themselves, out of denial, rejection, disbelief, stubbornness and a belief that it will never happen.
He says:
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَى هَذَا الْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ﴿٣٨﴾
And they say: "When will this promise (come to pass), if you are truthful''.
تفسير ابن كثير
يخبر تعالى عن المشركين أنهم يستعجلون أيضا بوقوع العذاب بهم تكذيبا وجحودا وكفرا وعنادا واستبعادا فقال " ويقولون متى هذا الوعد إن كنتم صادقين" .
تفسير الجلالين
"ويقولون متى هذا الوعد" بالقيامة "إن كنتم صادقين" فيه
تفسير القرطبي
أي الموعود , كما يقال : الله رجاؤنا أي مرجونا . وقيل : معنى " الوعد " هنا الوعيد , أي الذي يعدنا من العذاب . وقيل : القيامة .
إعراب — grammatical analysis
«وَيَقُولُونَ» الواو استئنافية ومضارع وفاعله والجملة مستأنفة «مَتى » اسم استفهام في محل نصب على الظرفية متعلق بالخبر المقدم والجملة مقول القول «هذَا» مبتدأ مؤخر «الْوَعْدُ» بدل من هذا «إِنْ كُنْتُمْ» إن حرف شرط جازم «كُنْتُمْ» ماض ناقص واسمها «صادِقِينَ» خبر كان وجملة كنتم ابتدائية
لا محل لها وجواب الشرط محذوف
