وَعَلامَاتٍ وَبِالنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
WaAAalamatin wabialnnajmi hum yahtadoona

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
وَعَلامَاتٍ ...
And landmarks,
meaning, signs like great mountains and small hills, and so on, things that land and sea travelers use to find their way if they get lost.
... وَبِالنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ ﴿١٦﴾
and by the stars (during the night), they (mankind) guide themselves.
meaning, in the darkness of the night.
This was the opinion of Ibn Abbas.
تفسير ابن كثير
وقوله " وعلامات " أي دلائل من جبال كبار وآكام صغار ونحو ذلك يستدل بها المسافرون برا وبحرا إذا ضلوا الطرق . وقوله " وبالنجم هم يهتدون " أي في ظلام الليل قاله ابن عباس. وعن مالك في قوله " وعلامات وبالنجم هم يهتدون" يقول النجوم وهي الجبال .
تفسير الجلالين
"وعلامات" تستدلون بها على الطرق كالجبال بالنهار "وبالنجم" بمعنى النجوم "هم يهتدون" إلى الطرق والقبلة بالليل
تفسير القرطبي
قال ابن عباس : العلامات معالم الطرق بالنهار ; أي جعل للطريق علامات يقع الاهتداء بها .
