وَسَخَّر لَكُمُ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ دَآئِبَينَ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ
Wasakhkhara lakumu alshshamsa waalqamara daibayni wasakhkhara lakumu allayla waalnnahara

And He hath made subject to you the sun and the moon, both diligently pursuing their courses; and the night and the day hath he (also) made subject to you.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
وَسَخَّر لَكُمُ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ دَآئِبَينَ ...
And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you;
rotating by night and by day,
... وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ ﴿٣٣﴾
and He has made the night and the day to be of service to you.
Allah said in other Ayat,
لاَ الشَّمْسُ يَنبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تدْرِكَ القَمَرَ وَلاَ الَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ وَكُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ
It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. (36:40)
and,
يُغْشِى الَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُ حَثِيثًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ أَلاَ لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالاٌّمْرُ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَـلَمِينَ
He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His command. His is the creation and commandment. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of all that exists! (7:54)
The sun and the moon rotate in succession, and the night and the day are opposites, each taking from the length of the other or giving up some of its length,
يُولِجُ الَّيْلَ فِى النَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِى الَّيْلِ
(Allah) merges the night into day, and merges the day into night. (35:13)
and,
وَسَخَّـرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُـلٌّ يَجْرِى لاًّجَـلٍ مُّسَـمًّى أَلا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ
And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the Almighty, the Oft-Forgiving. (39:5)
Allah said next,
تفسير ابن كثير
" وسخر لكم الشمس والقمر دائبين " أي يسيران لا يفتران ليلا ولا نهارا" لا الشمس ينبغي لها أن تدرك القمر ولا الليل سابق النهار وكل في فلك يسبحون " " يغشي الليل النهار يطلبه حثيثا والشمس والقمر والنجوم مسخرات بأمره ألا له الخلق والأمر تبارك الله رب العالمين" فالشمس والقمر يتعاقبان والليل والنهار يتعارضان فتارة يأخذ هذا من هذا فيطول ثم يأخذ الآخر من هذا فيقصر " يولج الليل في النهار ويولج النهار في الليل وسخر الشمس والقمر كل يجري لأجل مسمى ألا هو العزيز الغفار " .
تفسير الجلالين
"وسخر لكم الشمس والقمر دائبين" جاريين في فلكهما لا يفتران "وسخر لكم الليل" لتسكنوا فيه "والنهار" لتبتغوا فيه من فضله
تفسير القرطبي
أي في إصلاح ما يصلحانه من النبات وغيره , والدؤوب مرور الشيء في العمل على عادة جارية . وقيل : دائبين في السير امتثالا لأمر الله , والمعنى يجريان إلى يوم القيامة لا يفتران ; روي معناه عن ابن عباس .
