قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَهْطِي أَعَزُّ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللّهِ وَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ وَرَاءكُمْ ظِهْرِيّاً إِنَّ رَبِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
Qala ya qawmi arahtee aAAazzu AAalaykum mina Allahi waittakhathtumoohu waraakum thihriyyan inna rabbee bima taAAmaloona muheetun
Yusuf Ali
He said: "O my people! is then my family of more consideration with you than Allah? For ye cast Him away behind your backs (with contempt). But verily my Lord encompasseth on all sides all that ye do!

Tafsir Ibn Kathir
Shu`ayb's Refutation of His People
He (Shu`ayb) said,
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَهْطِي أَعَزُّ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللّهِ ...
He said: "O my people! Is then my family of more weight with you than Allah!''
He says: You would leave me alone out of respect for my people but not out of respect for the greatness of the Lord, the Most Blessed and Exalted. Does not your awe of Allah prevent you from harming His Prophet! Indeed you have placed the fear of Allah,
... وَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ ...
And you have cast Him away
... وَرَاءكُمْ ظِهْرِيًّا ...
behind your backs.
This means that you have thrown it behind you. You do not obey it, nor do you respect it.
... إِنَّ رَبِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ ﴿٩٢﴾
Verily, my Lord is surrounding all that you do.
This means that He knows all of your actions and He will reward you according to them.
تفسير ابن كثير
" قال يا قوم أرهطي أعز عليكم من الله " يقول أتتركونني لأجل قومي ولا تتركوني إعظاما لجناب الرب تبارك وتعالى أن تنالوا نبيه بمساءة وقد اتخذتم كتاب الله " وراءكم ظهريا " أي نبذتموه خلفكم ولا تطيعونه ولا تعظمونه " إن ربي بما تعملون محيط " أي هو يعلم جميع أعمالكم وسيجزيكم .
تفسير الجلالين
"قال يا قوم أرهطي أعز عليكم من الله" فتتركوا قتلي لأجلهم ولا تحفظوني لله "واتخذتموه" أي الله "وراءكم ظهريا" منبوذا خلف ظهوركم لا تراقبونه "إن ربي بما تعملون محيط" علما فيجازيكم
تفسير القرطبي
" أرهطي " رفع بالابتداء ; والمعنى أرهطي في قلوبكم
إعراب — grammatical analysis
«قالَ» ماض وفاعله مستتر والجملة مستأنفة.
«يا» أداة نداء.
«قَوْمِ» منادى منصوب وعلامة نصبه الفتحة المقدرة على ما قبل ياء المتكلم المحذوفة.
«أَرَهْطِي» الهمزة للاستفهام ورهطي مبتدأ.
«أَعَزُّ» خبر.
«عَلَيْكُمْ» متعلقان بأعز.
«مِنَ اللَّهِ» لفظ الجلالة مجرور بمن متعلقان بأعز.
«وَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ» الواو واو الحال وماض وفاعله ومفعوله والواو للإشباع والجملة في محل نصب على الحال.
«وَراءَكُمْ» ظرف مكان متعلق باتخذتموه والكاف مضاف إليه.
«ظِهْرِيًّا» حال.
«إِنَّ رَبِّي» إن واسمها والياء مضاف إليه والجملة تعليل.
«بِما» ما موصولية ومتعلقان بمحيط.
«تَعْمَلُونَ» مضارع مرفوع بثبوت النون والواو فاعل والجملة صلة.
«مُحِيطٌ» خبر إن.
